Our client is a private, institutional-quality single-family office dedicated to preserving and growing the wealth of a single family across generations. The office manages a diversified global portfolio with a long-term investment horizon, rooted in strong values, privacy, and philanthropic goals. We are seeking a sophisticated, highly strategic, and values-driven Chief Investment Officer (CIO) to lead the investment function.

Position Overview

The CIO will oversight of the family’s investment strategy, asset allocation, and portfolio management. As a trusted advisor to the family, to design and execute an investment framework that aligns with the family’s risk tolerance, liquidity needs, and multi-generational objectives. This role requires an experienced executive who balances institutional investment rigor with the high-touch, discreet nature of a family office environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Investment Strategy & Allocation: Develop, implement, and rebalance the global macro asset allocation strategy across public equities, fixed income, private equity, venture capital, real estate, and hedge funds.
  • Manager Selection & Due Diligence: Identify, evaluate, and monitor external asset managers, direct investment opportunities, and co-investments.
  • Risk Management: Establish comprehensive risk management frameworks to mitigate portfolio volatility, market risk, and liquidity constraints.
  • Family Governance & Reporting: Present clear, sophisticated portfolio performance reports and market outlooks to the Board.
  • Partnership & Collaboration: Work closely with the CEO, tax advisors, legal counsel, and estate planners to ensure investment strategies are optimized for tax efficiency and generational wealth transfer.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Minimum of 15+ years of progressive investment experience, with experience within a substantial single-family office, multi-family office, endowment, foundation, or institutional asset manager.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or a related field required. MBA and/or CFA charter holder highly preferred.
  • Proven success across multi-asset class investing.
  • Excellent command of English and Chinese
  • Absolute discretion, impeccable integrity and sound communication skills to translate complex financial concepts into actionable insights for family members.
